Sami Zayn’s Experience in WWE’s Saudi Arabia Events: From Prohibition to a Heartfelt Reception

The WWE is set to host the Crown Jewel PLE this weekend at the Mohammed Abdu Arena in Riyadh. The highly anticipated event has been generating buzz on the internet. Additionally, Sami Zayn has been getting a significant amount of attention due to his past involvement with the country, as the PLE draws closer.

His last appearance in the Gulf country was incredible with plenty of loud cheers and a warm welcome, despite his previous tensions with the country. Dive deep with us as we explore his journey in Saudi Arabian shows.

How was Sami Zayn received by the Saudi Arabian audience at Night of Champions?

In 2018, WWE entered into a decade-long agreement with the Saudi Arabian government, leading to frequent events being held in the country. Unfortunately, Zayn was unable to participate in these shows due to his Syrian heritage. Diplomatic conflicts between Saudi Arabia and Syria at the time prevented Zayn from performing in the country.

However, the WWE Universe’s admiration was not enough to secure his presence in the country. After some time, Saudi Arabia allowed him entry. On May 27, he competed at the Jeddah Super Dome during the Night of Champions PLE event. In the final match, he and his partner Kevin Owens emerged victorious over The Bloodline (Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa).

Upon his arrival in the country, the masses greeted him with an overwhelming display of love and encouragement, transcending any boundaries of religious or ethnic differences. The WWE fans in Saudi Arabia will once again have the chance to see him in action at Crown Jewel on November 4.

Zayn is going to Saudi Arabia again

WWE received a favorable reaction when they featured ‘The Underdog from the Underground’ in Saudi Arabia in May. As a result, they have scheduled another match for him at the upcoming premium live event in the country. In the recent episode of Monday Night Raw, the company revealed that Zayn will be competing at Crown Jewel.

JD McDonagh is set to face his rival in an upcoming match. The event organizers scheduled the match following a promotional segment featuring both stars and The Judgment Day during the 10/30 episode of the main show. Similar to their previous encounter, it seems that the fans in the Middle East will warmly embrace him once again.
