Is there a possibility that Apple will host a Mac event this fall or in the future?

For those passionate about technology, keeping track of product release dates is important. This is why they are likely aware of Apple’s annual autumn event, where the company unveils its latest iPhone and Apple Watch models. However, what many may not know is that Apple often holds a separate event after the iPhone launch, specifically for announcing new Mac products.
According to Mark Gurman, Apple may hold a Mac event this year to generate excitement for the upcoming holiday season. However, considering the recent launch of the new Apple Pencil with minimal promotion, it is possible that this may be the last fall event for a while. The last time Apple held such an event was two years ago, when they introduced the M1 Pro and M1 Max in the 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models.
, and now it’s ready to go.
“The M-series has reached maturity and is now prepared for use.”
Apple’s decision to host its fall Mac event in 2021 was primarily to reveal the growth of the M1 chip lineup. The debut of the M1 was the highlight of the “One more thing” event in November 2020, and the 2021 event served as a platform for Apple to showcase even faster and more advanced versions for the new MacBook Pro. The Pro and Max versions were especially impressive, boasting significant improvements in speed and efficiency. This trend continued with the Ultra chip at the “Peek Performance” event in the spring of 2022.
At this point, it is common knowledge that Apple follows a specific pattern for releasing their chips. They start with the M chip, followed by the Pro and Max versions a few months later, and eventually an Ultra chip. This has been Apple’s consistent approach and is likely to continue in the future. This also means that Apple has a significant level of control over the development of their chips, apart from any production challenges, and is no longer reliant on Intel’s timeline. This allows Apple to strategically plan their chip releases based on their own needs and the demands of the market.

I must mention that the 2020 and 2021 launches took place amid the Covid pandemic. It is probable that Apple had intended to release the new MacBook Pros in the spring of 2021, shortly after revealing the M1 in November 2020. However, due to production delays caused by the pandemic, this was not possible. As a result, a Mac event was held in the fall instead.
to be used in a specific way
The designs have been created for a particular purpose.
The 2021 event highlighted the introduction of the new MacBook Pros in 14- and 16-inch sizes, featuring a completely new design, improved displays, and updated features. These new models had significantly smaller bezels, necessitating a notch for the FaceTime camera. The Touch Bar was removed and replaced with traditional F1 keys, a larger trackpad was added, MagSafe was reintroduced, and the SD card slot made a comeback. This was a significant overhaul of the laptop that was eventually also implemented in the MacBook Air.
As the M3 release nears, Apple’s Mac lineup has been updated with fresh designs that were recently unveiled. One could argue that the new Mac Studio serves as a design alternative to the Mac Pro. These designs are not expected to be altered in the near future, making it unnecessary for Apple to hold an event to showcase any upcoming features for the next few years.
Tardy to class
When you think about it, the fall is a weird time for new Macs to arrive. Students going off to school have already made their hardware purchases, businesses have already wrapped up their yearly expenditures, and not that many people are willing to drop more than a grand on a holiday present.
Apple has concluded that the optimal time to promote Macs (and iPads) to students is during the spring and early summer months. In recent years, Apple has released new Mac models during this season, including this year’s introduction of the 15-inch Air and Appel silicon Mac Pro at WWDC. Additionally, in August, Apple runs a back-to-school promotion at their Apple Store to cater to the incoming college students.
Apple
While the Mac used to have its event at a later time, the iPhone and Apple Watch dominate the fall season. These products generate excitement weeks before the iPhone event and continue to do so throughout the holiday shopping season. Given the iPhone’s popularity, it makes sense for Apple to let it take center stage.
How can we revive the autumn Mac event?
Previously, Apple has traditionally introduced fresh Mac models towards the end of November (such as the 2020 M1 Mac mini, MacBook Air, and 13-inch MacBook Pro) and December (the iMac Pro in 2017). However, with the Mac lineup currently in a solid position, Apple is expected to opt for straightforward press release announcements for upcoming Mac releases following their annual iPhone event. In the past, Apple would hold press-only events during the fall and winter seasons (as seen with the iMac Pro). However, it appears that these have now been replaced by online briefings and press release announcements.
Currently, the only possible motives for Apple to hold a Mac event in the fall would be for a significant revelation, like a revolutionary new processor, a drastic new appearance, or a completely new model. However, it appears that none of these possibilities are likely to occur anytime soon. Nonetheless, it should be noted that the Mac is currently thriving, and if that is the primary reason for not having a fall Mac event, then it is not necessarily a negative situation.
