  • The Xiaomi 14 series comes with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, which no longer supports 32-bit apps.

  • Xiaomi has incorporated a translation layer on their phone to maintain compatibility with 32-bit apps.

  • This indicates that users are able to utilize their previous applications without encountering any problems.

The Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro are the first high-end devices to debut with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. This positions them as top contenders in the Android phone market, pending their international release in the upcoming weeks. Despite the new SoC, there are some underlying modifications that may cause compatibility issues with previous apps. Fortunately, Xiaomi has a solution in place to ensure smooth operation of these apps on their phones.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is the initial 64-bit-only system-on-a-chip (SoC) created by Qualcomm. It does not include any central processing unit (CPU) cores that can accommodate older 32-bit ARM applications. Therefore, outdated apps that have not been modified to function with 64-bit cores will not be compatible with smartphones utilizing this SoC.
