One of Lionel Messi’s teammates on Inter Miami, despite having the third highest salary on the team, will not be able to participate in an upcoming game in China due to difficulty continuing.

Inter Miami is the most recent team to join Major League Soccer. The organization is currently in the process of determining its best strategies and what works well. Despite initially gaining attention as David Beckham’s project, the team did not truly take off until Lionel Messi joined. However, amidst all the adjustments, Inter Miami has recognized the need for one of Messi’s fellow players to be excluded from the China tour.

Inter Miami has made some strong acquisitions, such as Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, to support Messi. As the team undergoes a rebuilding process, they are striving to eliminate any obstacles.

One of Lionel Messi’s coworkers will not be joining the Inter Miami team.

The Herons are overjoyed to have won their first soccer trophy, all thanks to the addition of Messi. However, before Messi joined the team, another player had been carrying the weight of the team. The team’s former captain and forward, Josef Martinez, will no longer be a part of Inter Miami. Coach Tata Martino shared this news with the media.

Lionel Messi and Josef Martinez

On July 1, 2023 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Inter Miami CF’s forward Josef Martinez (#17) celebrated with a hush gesture after scoring a goal during the MLS game against Austin FC at DRV PNK Stadium. The photo, taken by Peter Joneleit, is available for editorial use only.

According to Martino, he did not go on a trip because it would be challenging for him to stay at the institution for the upcoming season.

Before Messi joined, the ex-Atlanta United player held the position of captain for Inter Miami. Martinez currently ranks as the third top scorer and third highest paid player in the club’s short history. Reports suggest that Inter Miami is seeking to acquire Luis Suarez as his replacement.

Prior to joining Inter Miami this year, Josef Martinez was a member of Atlanta United where he scored an impressive 103 goals. He holds the MLS record for most goals scored in a single season and also helped lead his team to victory in the MLS Cup in 2018. After winning the Leagues Cup, Martinez received the captain’s armband from Messi as a recognition of his leadership.

Martinez will not continue to participate with Messi.

Despite being 30 years old, Josef chose not to continue with the team next season. Coach Tata Martino has confirmed that Josef will not be joining the team for their tour in China. The coach stated, “Josef will not be part of the China tour, and we will discuss the situations of other players who will also not be staying with the team.”
