Two years have passed since the launch of the OnePlus Watch, which was deemed a failure. The device was better suited for a “best fitness tracker” list rather than a “best smartwatch” list. However, it seems that OnePlus is not giving up and may release a new smartwatch in 2024.
Max Jambor recently shared on X (formerly known as Twitter) about the speculated smartwatch from OnePlus. As per his post, OnePlus might be preparing to launch the OnePlus Watch 2 in 2024. Jambor also mentioned that the watch will have a circular design.
While we didn’t have a launch window previously, we have heard before that there could be a new OnePlus Watch on the way. A few weeks ago, a sizeable leak from @realMlgmXyysd suggested OnePlus’s parent company was working on a smartwatch with the codename “Star.” The leak suggested this Star smartwatch may have variants that include OWW231 for the Chinese market, OWWE231 for the Global market, and OPWWE231 for the Global market as a OnePlus branded product.
This circular smartwatch reportedly boasts a 466 x 466 resolution display. It is also rumored to be equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 chip and BES 2700 co-processor for efficient low-power tasks. The watch may offer a range of functions such as ECG, Always On Display, fist clench gestures, eSIM, blood oxygen measurement, stress tracking, sleep tracking, and workout tracking.
The initial attempt at a smartwatch from the company may have only served as a fancy fitness tracker. However, it appears that their latest device may finally be the true smartwatch we have been anticipating.
