Is it likely that Apple will have an event in October of 2023?
Macworld
Apple regularly hosts events throughout the year to unveil its latest products. These events typically include a spring event in March or April, a WWDC keynote in June, a launch event for the new iPhone in September, and an October event where new iPads and Macs are sometimes introduced.
On September 12, Apple held an event to unveil their latest offerings, including the iPhone 15, Apple Watch Series 9, and Ultra 2. Is this the end of Apple’s product releases for 2023? While there is a possibility of a Mac and iPad launch in October, it is uncertain if Apple will hold another event to introduce more products in 2023.
Is Apple planning on hosting a conference in October of 2023?
In the past, Apple has traditionally held a second event in the fall, typically in October or November, to introduce new products such as Macs, iPads, and AirPods. For instance, at the 2021 Unleashed event, we saw the release of the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models and the third-generation AirPods. Similarly, the previous year saw the launch of M1 versions of the 13-inch MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and Mac mini.
Although the list of October event dates below shows that Apple does not consistently hold an October event, it is worth noting that they have only held eight October events in the last 12 years. Therefore, it is not uncommon for them to skip it.
- 2022: No event
- 2021: Monday, October 18
- 2020: Tuesday, October 13
- 2019: No event
- 2018: Tuesday, October 30
- 2017: No event
- 2016: Thursday, October 27
- 2015: No event
- 2014: Thursday, October 16
- 2013: Tuesday, October 22
- 2012: Tuesday, October 23
- 2011: Tuesday, October 4
It is unlikely that Apple will host an October event in 2023. Although there have been rumors of a new iPad mini and an M3 version of the iMac being released this year, they may not be significant enough to warrant an event. It is more probable that any future updates from Apple in 2023 will be announced through a press release.
When might Apple’s October event take place?
If Apple decides to hold an unexpected October event in 2023, we can expect it to take place on either October 17 or 24.
Typically, invitations are sent out 1-2 weeks prior to the event. Therefore, if the event is scheduled for October, one can anticipate receiving invitations at the start of the month.

-
In the United States, 10 am Pacific Standard or Daylight Time, 11 am Mountain Standard or Daylight Time, 12 pm Central Standard or Daylight Time, and 1 pm Eastern Standard or Daylight Time.

What is Apple planning to release in October?
It is possible for Apple to reveal new Macs and iPads, regardless of whether there is an event scheduled.
M3 iMac
The iMac is currently equipped with an M1 chip, while the other models have upgraded to Apple’s second generation of Mac chips. Therefore, it is high time for the iMac to receive an update. Speculations indicate that the iMac will skip the M2 chip and go straight to using the M3 chip.

MacBook Air with M3
It is possible that Apple may release an M3 iMac, which could also mean a potential update for the MacBook Air. However, we believe this may happen too quickly after the 15-inch MacBook Air was launched in June, so we are not expecting it.

13-inch MacBook Pro with M3
It would be odd for Apple not to also release an update for the 13-inch MacBook Pro when updating the Air at the same time.
iPad mini
The latest version of the iPad mini was released in 2021. It is possible that a seventh-generation model will be released in 2023.

10th-generation iPad
There is a possibility that Apple’s most affordable iPad, the 10.2-inch entry-level version, will be the highlight release for October. Speculations indicate that this model may undergo a change in appearance with thinner edges, a bigger 10.5-inch display, USB-C connectivity, and 5G capabilities. Additionally, it may no longer have a headphone jack.
Bigger iPad Pro
There is speculation of a potential 14-inch iPad Pro in addition to a new version of the iPad Pro.
AirPods Lite
There have been ongoing rumors about the release of AirPods Lite. These wireless earbuds are speculated to be priced at $99 and could potentially be a popular gift during the holiday season. Additionally, there is also a need for an update to the AirPods Max.
There are new rumors circulating about AirPods.
What was unveiled by Apple during their most recent October event?
Apple released new versions of their top-of-the-line MacBook Pro laptops on October 18, 2021. These redesigned models come in sizes of 14 inches and 16 inches. They are equipped with the powerful M1 Pro and M1 Max chips, which are upgrades from the already impressive M1 chips that were introduced in November 2020. The laptops have been given a new design with thinner borders and additional ports such as MagSafe, HDMI, and an SD card slot.
During the event, Apple announced the launch of the third-generation AirPods, additional colors for the HomePod mini, and a more affordable Apple Music subscription that is powered by Siri, known as Apple Music Voice. The video of the October 2021 event can be viewed below.
