Revised: October 4, 2023 (12:37 AM ET): The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) will conduct a test of the Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) and Emergency Alert System (EAS) at 2:20 PM ET today. On August 31, 2023 at 1:36 PM ET, an emergency test will be conducted that may startle you. FEMA and the FCC are collaborating to test the Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) and Emergency Alert System (EAS). This test will be sent to all consumer cell phones, regardless of whether they are unlocked or provided by a specific carrier.
