The Department of Justice in the US is citing Google’s agreement with Apple as evidence of the company’s unfair dominance in the search engine industry.
There were rumors that Microsoft and Apple were discussing the possible sale of Bing to the iPhone manufacturer. According to Bloomberg, Microsoft leaders met with Eddy Cue, Apple’s services chief, in 2020 to propose Bing to the company in Cupertino. If the agreement had been finalized, Bing may have taken over as the primary search engine in Safari, Siri, and all other areas where Apple utilizes search.
