The Pentagon plans to move ships and aircraft closer to Israel as a display of military strength.


On Sunday, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin declared that the Pentagon will be dispatching ships and aircraft closer to Israel, in response to the recent attacks launched by Hamas militants in southern Israel. This move serves as a significant display of strength and support.

The nearest United States Navy resources are the USS Gerald Ford aircraft carrier and its accompanying strike group, currently stationed in the Mediterranean Sea.

The Biden administration is anticipated to declare the addition of more weapons being sent to Israel, as initially reported by POLITICO.

According to a statement from the White House, President Joe Biden informed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during a phone call on Sunday that more aid for the Israeli Defense Forces is being sent and more is anticipated in the near future.

The White House released a statement saying that the President once again conveyed his heartfelt condolences for those who are missing, injured, or deceased. He also promised to fully support the Government and citizens of Israel against the unprecedented and horrific attack by Hamas terrorists.
