The MTV awards have been cancelled due to the Israel-Hamas conflict, which means no more performances from Taylor Swift.

The organizers of the MTV Europe Music Awards have announced that the event, which was scheduled for next month, has been cancelled due to the unpredictable nature of current global events.

The planned awards ceremony, originally scheduled for November 5th in Paris, will not be taking place due to the current Israel-Hamas conflict. The organizers do not believe it is a suitable time for a worldwide celebration.

“Due to the unpredictable nature of global events, MTV has made the decision to cancel the 2023 MTV EMAs in order to prioritize the safety and well-being of our employees, crew, artists, fans, and partners who come from various parts of the world to make the show possible,” stated MTV in a release.

Some of the contenders were Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, Bad Bunny, Miley Cyrus, and Nicki Minaj. Swift, known for her hit song “Blank Space,” earned the highest number of nominations in seven categories. However, she will not be attending the glamorous awards ceremony.

MTV stated that the MTV EMAs are a yearly commemoration of worldwide music. However, given the ongoing and tragic situation in Israel and Gaza, it does not seem appropriate to hold a global celebration. With countless lives already lost, it is a time for grieving.

The last time the MTV EMAs were held in Paris was 1995. France has been on high alert since Hamas attacked Israel earlier this month. Several airports, Versailles Palace, and the Louvre Museum have all been evacuated due to bomb threats in the past week, and last week a French teacher was killed in Arras in what authorities believe was a terrorist attack.
