According to a biographer, there is a possibility that Lachlan Murdoch may bring Fox and Trump back together.

According to the biographer of media mogul Rupert Murdoch, Lachlan Murdoch, who has recently been chosen as his successor, may attempt to repair the strained relationship between Donald Trump and Fox News.

After Rupert Murdoch declared his intention to step down, concluding his long-standing rule over the family enterprise, there has been a lot of conjecture about the future of Fox and News Corp.

One pressing inquiry is whether or not Trump, who was previously favored by conservative Fox News but later rejected in favor of Republican rival Ron DeSantis, will regain his status as the network’s favorite.

According to Michael Wolff, the author of the soon-to-be-released book “The Fall: The End of Fox News and the Murdoch Dynasty” and a longtime observer of the Murdoch family, there is a strong chance that Lachlan, Rupert’s son, will reconcile with Trump.

“I believe he is capable of doing so. Without a doubt,” Wolff stated on POLITICO’s latest international podcast, Power Play. “Why not? It would be a humiliating experience. Personally, I would not want to have a cup of tea with my father, Rupert Murdoch, after doing something like that, but it is a definite possibility.”

According to Wolff, Rupert Murdoch, who recently revealed his resignation as executive chair of Fox News with his son Lachlan assuming the position, has never been a fan of the contentious ex-President from the Republican party.

The events that occurred on January 6, 2021, where supporters of Trump caused a violent uprising at the U.S. Capitol, deeply affected Rupert Murdoch and solidified his disdain.

“I don’t believe Rupert has ever been fond of Donald Trump,” he stated. “In fact, I would go so far as to say he despises him. Donald Trump is the type of person that Rupert feels no compassion for.”

It is not a secret that Trump boosts TV ratings, which will create a difficult situation for Lachlan Murdoch. At the moment, Trump is significantly ahead in polls for the 2024 U.S. presidential election’s Republican primary.

According to Wolff, it would be a smart business decision for Fox to once again show support for Trump. However, this would be a significant disappointment for the elder Murdoch and would demonstrate vulnerability on the part of Lachlan Murdoch.

“I am going to surrender. I am going to submit to Donald Trump. That is what he would be implying. That is how it would be interpreted,” stated Wolff. “And on top of that, his siblings would exact a heavy price from him for doing so.”
