The Sustainable Company Awards 2023 acknowledged Globe Group’s sustainability initiatives in four distinct categories.
The Globe Group was recently acknowledged for their strong dedication to sustainability at the 2023 Environmental Finance Sustainable Company Awards. They received recognition in four categories, highlighting their commitment to ESG principles and their leadership in promoting sustainable business practices.
Environmental-Finance.com is an online news and analysis service that was founded in 1999 in the UK. Its focus is on reporting about sustainable investment, green finance, and the individuals and businesses involved in environmental markets.
Globe received recognition in four categories it participated in, for its work on addressing climate change, producing sustainability reports, and utilizing digital technology.
The APAC Energy Efficiency Initiative of the Year
Globe has made strides in environmental sustainability by incorporating green practices into its network. This has been supported by its ISO 50001 certification for energy management, resulting in improved efficiency and cost savings through reduced energy usage. These efforts include transitioning more sites to renewable energy sources, implementing eco-friendly network solutions, and utilizing energy-efficient technologies to optimize network operations.
The APAC Net Zero Progression of the Year.
Globe’s dedication to creating a sustainable future was also acknowledged through the receipt of the Net Zero Progression of the Year award.
In 2021, Globe made a promise to establish science-based goals through the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) and submitted its goals for review and validation in June 2023. The company has consistently received a CDP ‘B’ Rating since 2021 and is actively supporting the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), demonstrating its commitment to addressing climate-related risks. This recognition showcases the company’s alignment with the worldwide Race to Zero campaign and its ongoing efforts to decrease its greenhouse gas emissions throughout its operations.
The Asia-Pacific Sustainability Reporting Award.
The third award, Sustainability Reporting of the Year, recognizes Globe’s ongoing dedication to openness and responsibility. The company started their sustainability reporting efforts as early as 2008, ten years before the Philippine regulations for sustainability reporting were implemented for publicly-listed companies.
In 2018, Globe implemented the Integrated Reporting framework to demonstrate how they utilize their resources to generate value. In their 2022 Integrated Report, titled “Empowering Customers with Everyday Digital Solutions,” Globe highlighted their use of GSMA ESG Metrics for Mobile, making them the pioneer telecommunications company in the Philippines to test these metrics.
The MSCI recently awarded the company with an ‘AA’ Rating, the highest in the Philippines. Additionally, Globe has been a member of the FTSE4Good Index for eight years in a row. The Financial Times has recognized Globe as one of the Climate Leaders in Asia Pacific for two consecutive years, and Standard Insights has named it the Most Sustainably-Driven Network, solidifying its position as a leader in sustainability.
APAC’s Large Enterprise of the Year: Evolving from a telecommunications company to a technology-focused enterprise
Globe was named the APAC Large Enterprise of the Year for its successful transition into a digital solutions group, as acknowledged in this year’s awards ceremony.
